Autres noms identiques - Deux couples portent les mêmes noms : Paul Sabourin et Josephte Séguin

Les 2 Paul Sabourin sont cousins. Pour les différencier, on les désigne:

Which Sabourin family lived at Greenwood Centre for Living History 254 Main Street, in Hudson,Quebec ?

Source, Greenwood Center

According to my research and that of Yvon Sabourin, and corroborated by other researchers, the Greenwood Centre, Lot #14, was not the residence of Jean-Baptiste and Sarah Hanson as is often indicated. It was the home of his brother Jacques and his wife Jeanne Aumay. The Sabourin-Aumay couple then transferred the ownership of their land to their son Jean-Baptiste and his wife Amable Brabant. Therein lies the confusion. It was Jean-Baptiste the nephew who lived in what is now the Greenwood Centre and not his uncle Jean-Baptiste (Sarah Hanson). To add to the confusion, Lot # 15 immediately west of Greenwood, was owned by another Jean-Baptiste, this one a Seguin.

The documents describing the lots in the 1st Concession of Pointe Cavagnal, seignory of Vaudreuil, reveal the followin:

Lot #10

Jean-Baptiste Sabourin and Sarah Hanson lived one kilometre east of the Greenwood Centre. This lot is located at the west corner of the Main Street and Chemin Bellevue Road intersection next to the Oka Ferry landing.
The notarized document describing Jean-Baptiste and Sarah Hanson's property declares it iwas located by the railway station.
- 1732 , 20 Oct. - Jean-Baptiste Sabourin, captain of militia, is granted Lot 10, 4 x 30 arpents of land on 20 October 1732. This verbal agreement with the seigneur will be formalized on 21 March
- 1743 after the lands were surveyed. (notary Simonnet).
- 1770 , 13 Feb. - Jean-Baptiste transfers the ownership of this lot to his son Paul, the captain of the militia, and his son-in-law Pierre Villeneuve, husband of Amable Thérèse Sabourin. (notary Vuatier).
- 1800, 4 Nov. -This land remains in the Sabourin family until 4 November 1800 when it is sold to Louis and Urbain Lecompte for 3000 livres (notary Deguire) Nine other owners will occupy this land before the Delesderniers family buys it on 3 January, 1851.

Lot #11

Paul Sabourin, son of Jean-Baptiste and Sarah, owned Lot # 11, lot bordering the north-west side of Lot #10.

Lot #14

- Location of Greenwood Centre for Living History
Jean-Baptiste's brother, Jacques Sabourin and his wife Jeanne Aumais were the owners of this lot
- 1742, 22 March - Jacques Sabourin buys Lot # 14
- 1770, 22 Feb. - Jacques transfers ownership of Lot # 14 to his son, Jean-Baptiste (wife Amable Brabant) (notary T. Vuatier).
- 1793 – Lot # 14 stays in the Sabourin family (51 yrs) until 1793 when it is sold to Antoine St. Denis
- 1797, 14 Nov. Lot # 14 reverts back to members of a Sabourin family when a Jean-Baptiste Sabourin and André Sabourin purchase the lot - 1829, 5 Sept. The Delesderniers family buys Lot #14.

Lot #15

- Immediately west of Greenwood
- 1743, 24 Jan. Lot 15 is granted to Jean-Baptiste Séguin and his wife Marie Catherine Raizenne. (notary Simonnet). The Delesderniers family purchased this lot in 1829.
No Sabourin occupied this land. Catherine's sister, Anastasie, resides on Lot #4

Lot #4

- 1750, 29 April - Anastasie Raizenne, widow of yet another Jean-Baptiste Sabourin, and her second husband Pierre Castonguay, purchase Lot #4, 3 x 30 arpents, today designated as Pointe Boyer.. It is located 2 kilometres east of Greenwood and 1 km east of the Oka Ferry. After you reach Montée Manson, drive approx. ¼ km further to where the flickering lights and signs indicate a sharp curve in the road .
- 1771, 4 April - Lot #4 is then given to Paul Sabourin dit Castonguay, Anastasie’s son from her first marriage to Jean-Baptiste Sabourin, (This Jean-Baptiste is the son of Pierre Sabourin and Barbe Seguin).
- 1802, 17 Aug. Paul Sabourin.-Castonguay will then transfer ownership of Lot #4 to his son Théodore.
- 1814, 5 Sept. Théodore sells it to Charles Thomas and John McNabb.
