Remerciements / Big thanks !
Early in the 90 I found a certain interest in genealogy, the synchronism was excellent because the Internet being popular, I started to exchange with a group of people that were super interesting
the first one was Marcel Sabourin from Ottawa, Lynn Aubertain , Lorraine Auerbach-Chevrier. I learned the history of Sabourin families through those exchanges for example, the story of my direct ancestors, Jean-Baptiste Sabourin, captain of militia and his wife, Sarah Hanson who was taken captive as a young woman during a raid in Dover, New Hampshire and brought to New France.
Wow a well known Sabourin, well maybe well known, but for me it was a whole new discovery.
In my research on the Internet, I fall on a site where my father and my mother were listed in the genealogy of a Sabourin. Hum! I contact this mysterious person and discover he lives in Saskatchewan? Imagine that!
In Ontario I can understand it, It is beside Quebec but Saskatchewan, it is so far away? How did a Sabourin get over there? and also this person is interested in genealogy? who was this strange person being which had the same patronym as me? you surely do not know him, a certain Mo Sabourin, he likes his roots so much that he maintains an internet site
on My Family.com. I want to thanks him for is beautiful lesson to be received by an anglophone with a name of Sabourin who maintains this family relation with a French-speaking Sabourin never did to date.
Sadly for me in mid 90 was a very difficult time, sickness made that I forsook genealogy for approximately 5-6 years but I joined again with MO site a few years ago , thanks to Mary Dowdy who invited me. (A big thanks to Mary )
On this famous site of Sabourin there is a crowd of Sabourin or in relation to Sabourin which exchanges on all small thing of the life and as well on the genealogy, there is another strange person being on this site, he maintains a database of more than 118,000 names which are connected to Sabourin
I found in this base that I have a direct bond with the first "colon" who came to Canada, the family of Louis Hébert. Who maintains this base? a certain Nöel-Alphonse Sabourin. You should see his collection of photos for tomb stone , impressive I'm telling you.
I wanted to also speak a little bit about Yvon Sabourin now deceased, Yvon made several research on Sabourin and he wrote in l'Outaouais généalogique some very nice texts, his text about his trips to Montalembert in France was very emotive and we have the impression to live it with him.
There are also many other people who contributed of Sabourins history or data collections, there are Claude Sabourin (professor at UQAM ) Jean-Guy Sabourin et Mariette Hogue who continue to ensure the value of information received.
This site want to be a synthesis of information which is in the database of Nöel and also the information on Mo Site. Without all those people mentioned
higher in the text, there would not be much thing to write or follow.
Thank you all in the name of all Sabourin in Americas. .
